Discontent

Discontentment and jealousy are the downward spirals of humanity.
This thing that we call humanity seems to settle for nothing less than "the best"
The best of what? Of furniture? Of houses? Of clothing?
FOR WHAT?!
To be better than your fellow man?
If you are so keen to be better, SIR, then open your eyes and look around.
You look into the eyes of the broken hearted and tell them you do not care
You look into the eyes of the starving child and tell them you will not share
You look into the eyes of the injured and leave them in their pain
And you don't care for those about you, as long as it's for your own gain.
Look into the eyes of your maker and see all of your cruel, loveless, corrupt and selfish choices staring back at you
We are not put on this planet for money or fashion or Power
We are put on this planet to Love
I look at you and I see only greed.
I see no love.
Where is the love in this cavity you call your heart?
Well let me tell you, it isn't in your wallet.
It isn't in the Rubies.
It isn't in the gold or the silver or the 'riches'.
It isn't in that plasma screen TV
And it will never be in any store.
Love is found in the actions of others, actions of pure and kind intent,
Actions that are taken not for the benefit of oneself.
The world we live in is selfish with discontent.
If only people would learn to be selfless then, perhaps, we could achieve the love and harmony we so seek.
