Humsafar - by Majnu

An angel entered my life one day
Unannounced and unsung.
Down from heaven, to this land of grey
She came far, to lift me up.
I knew her not for what she was
Yet somehow she knew me.
She saw in me a part of her
And it opened to the sun.

Though she is not whole yet, there is still pain
So gentle must I be.
For she gave me power, to change our lives
Quite irrevocably.
Now down this path we must journey
Who knows what we will find?
Is there an exit to this labyrinth
Which we created in our minds?

Vortex

Life is like a vortex that swirls around us, it laughs at us, stares at us and forces us into places we do not want to be, then laughs at us some more.
The smiles of others show through the dust and the dirt and you can only wonder if any are born of true happiness.
Play your cards right and that mask of allure that is a smile can be yours for as little as minor emotional suppression and lies and hope to whoever you think is in control that your smile is a little more real than that of the poor guy sitting in the gutter.
But is that life’s gutter? No, that is something of our own creation. A creation of we who wish to control. A man who sits in the gutter is not an unhappy man because he sits there, if that man is unhappy in that gutter he would still be unhappy holding the key to a mansion. The search for wealth and power is not a search worth pursuing. What will you do with it when you achieve it? How happy do you honestly think you will be? Any paper wealth we have is just another piece of paper to float away in the wind. Just another piece of litter, staining the outlook of man.
We live in the wastelands of our own sorrows and our own ambitions.
“The best things in life are free” – I can certainly agree, but if the best things in life still leave us hiding the scars of life's vortex then what is the worth of all else?
